The Blind Will See...

Lately, God has been speaking to me a lot through the deaf and blind.

A few days ago, I saw a video of a young, autistic boy singing the song “Open the Eyes of My Heart” by Michael W. Smith. I cried when I watched it, of course. But it is truly a beautiful sight to see. Here’s the video in case you haven’t seen it. Please watch the video.

After watching this, I said to myself the blind really will see one day.

That phrase is something that I have heard my entire life, but after watching this video, it finally hit me how awesome this truly is.

As my sister put it, I was in complete awe after I had this realization.

Do you know how sometimes you will hear something so many times that you’re almost desensitized to it? But then you hear it once more, and it hits you in a way that you haven’t experienced in a long time.

Well, when that does happen, those moments are moments when you are filled with complete awe.

You are marveling at what God can do and you can’t contain yourself. Isn’t that the best feeling?

To add to this, recently, my students have been super interested in Helen Keller.

Helen Keller was both blind and deaf. She was unable to communicate with anyone for the longest time, so she just lived in a world of darkness and isolation.

But when people were able to finally communicate with her, they mentioned God and who He was, and what He had done for her. And when they said her name, she said, “I knew Him. I just didn’t know he had a name.”

God revealed Himself to Helen before she could even communicate with other people. This makes me want to bawl my eyes out. God is so loving and good that He revealed Himself to someone with whom we thought we would never be able to communicate, and He showed her that she wasn’t really alone that entire time.

But the great news is that people who are blind and deaf won’t always be blind and deaf. This goes for anyone who has any type of disorder/issue/problem (you name it) and is saved by God.

As Isaiah promises, “The lame will leap like a deer, and those who cannot speak will sing for joy!”

One day, the blind are going to see. The deaf are going to hear. The lame are going to walk again. And that burden that is weighing you down, whether it’s a disability, anxiety, sickness, or whatever else you’re going through – you will be free from it one day.

If you’re not saved and are curious about salvation, put in an inquiry and we can talk!
