He is Keeping You.

Are you in a season where you feel a little distant from God?

Maybe you feel you’ve drifted away from Him these past few months.

If this is you, I have some good news.

At this very moment, you possess a desire to return to how your relationship with God used to be. How do I know that? Because you’re reading this blog post right now. God is working in your heart RIGHT NOW and He is meeting you right where you are.

Jude 1:24-25 says, “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever.”

The only reason that you haven’t completely fallen away from God is because He is keeping you.

Isaiah 46:4 – “Even to your old age and gray hairs, I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”

HE IS SUSTAINING YOU.

You have not fallen!!!!! God is keeping you from falling.

Friend, I want to be so honest with you right now. It could be so much worse.

By the grace of God, He is keeping you from much worse. Please take comfort in the fact that He has kept you this entire time. And because He has kept you, you have so much to be thankful for. Count your blessings. Think of some things God has done for you recently.

About a year ago, I heard a sermon from a pastor who came to speak for BCM during one of our weekly meetings. At the end of his sermon, he told us to write down three times we saw God during our day. And he told us to do this every day for thirty days straight. Then, when we look back thirty days later, and we read about all the different times God was present in our days, we can find patterns of how God shows up in our everyday lives.

So, I did it the next day.

And for me, I saw God when I got out of class ten minutes early, and I got to walk on an empty campus, and the sun was just starting to set. It was a quiet evening on an extremely busy college campus, and God was letting me know that He was there.

I saw God show up when I listened to my favorite worship song, and I cried as I listened to the lyrics about what it’s like hearing your grandma and grandpa tell stories about their lives.

I saw God when I met up with my friend from high school that evening, and we reminisced about how we met and how much we loved playing volleyball together in middle and high school.

So what do all these scenarios have in common?

I experienced joy in these moments.

Psalms 16:11 says, “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Where there is joy, there is God.

Ponder on these moments every day, and watch God reveal Himself to you in unexpected and beautiful ways.

Take these baby steps and use them as a way to grow closer to God again.

Remember that you are not falling – God is keeping you and sustaining you. Recognize it and take the initiative to move closer to Him. He will meet you right where you are.

The invitation is sent. The King awaits.

Brings a tear to my eye to think about Jesus happily waiting for us to come to Him.

Forgive me, Lord, a sinner (Luke 18:13).
